This course examines the experiences of Black diasporic communities through the lens of social work, focusing on historical and contemporary issues such as slavery, colonization, systemic racism, and migration. Students will explore culturally responsive and anti-racist approaches to practice, emphasizing resilience, identity, and community strengths. Objectives: Analyze historical and systemic factors affecting Black communities Apply anti-racist and anti-oppressive frameworks Develop culturally responsive interventions Recognize resilience and community strengths Advocate for equity and social justice
